“Mercy and Grace”

“But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)”

(Ephesians 2:4-5)

As a father, I love rewarding my children when they behave or achieved a goal in sports or education.  Their reaction itself is rewarding.  On the other hand, I do my best (although difficult) to discipline them with love and not out of anger when they are disobedient or misbehave.  This verse has taught me the meaning of God’s mercy and grace.  Because of our sinful nature, we deserve punishment and hell but God, who is rich in MERCY, gave us life even while we were dead in our sins.  MERCY is not getting what we deserve.  GRACE is getting what we don’t deserve.  We don’t deserve salvation, but God has offered it to us by the GRACE displayed on the cross.  Let us remember the LOVE, MERCY, and GRACE that our Father has shown us!
