“Speak Lord! Your Servant Listens.”

Trying to discern the voice of God, or the world, or even my own voice in determining the many different decisions I need to make every day is a very difficult task.  Doing things the world’s way or my way is no longer an option now that I’m a Christian.  How do I do things God’s way?  Here are some biblical guidelines that have helped me to better understand the will of God for my life.  Just these three have helped me to hear from God and they are the same three that the Holy Spirit uses to convict me when I’m not hearing from God.

1) Spend time reading, meditating on, and studying God’s Word - that is His foremost way to speak to me.  2 Tim. 3:16,17; Josh. 1:8; Ps. 119:105

2) Fellowship with other believers often – I’ve received much good counsel from godly men through the years.  Heb. 10:25; Acts 17:11;Prov. 27:17

3) Praying – I’ve learned that talking to God is a dialog.  I speak to Him in prayer and He speaks to me through His Word - do it often. Matt. 7:7,8; John 14:14; 15:7; 1 Thess. 5:17
