The one statistic that every human faces is the fact that 1 out of every 1 person dies. It may be 30 years from now, 30 days from now or it might even be tomorrow. Life is fragile and nobody knows when their last day is going to be. So the question you must ask yourself is this:

If you are not sure, then please consider the following:

First, you must understand that you are a sinner, in need of a savior. The Bible states that “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). You may think that you are a good person, but God has a higher standard to consider. If you’ve told one lie, if you’ve ever stolen anything or if you’ve ever hated anyone, then you’ve transgressed God’s law and therefore, you are a sinner. That doesn’t seem fair does it? Keep reading.

You must understand that you cannot save yourself by your own efforts. The Bible says: “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5). Also, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

The bottom line is: “It’s not up to you”.

You must understand what God has done for you.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” (John 3:16-17)

You may have seen “John 3:16” displayed at football games. But what does this mean?

It means that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died for your sins. The Bible says, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

There is a price required for sin and because of sin, something had to die. The Bible says “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. We were guilty, but Christ paid the fine for us. It’s that simple.

However, it takes more than just “believing” in Jesus. You must accept this free gift by putting your trust in Him and Him alone. Jesus said “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Jesus is the ONLY way to heaven.

If you were on an airplane that was going to crash, just “believing” that a parachute would save you wouldn’t be enough. In order to be saved you would have to trust the parachute by putting it on. In the same way you must “put on the Lord Jesus Christ” and trust in the fact that His sacrifice on the cross is the only payment acceptable to God for your sins. One day God will judge the world and the only way to avoid or be saved from the wrath that is to come is to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior.

Turn from your sins, humble yourself before a Holy God and accept the free gift of salvation today. Remember, one day it will be too late.

The Bible says in Romans 10:9 “that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Are you willing to offer the following prayer to God today?

God, I am a sinner. I am lost and I need to be saved. I know that I cannot save myself. I believe that Jesus suffered and died in my place. I believe He rose from the dead in order to give me new life. I put my trust in you Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Come into my heart and give me the Grace and strength to turn from my sins. I want to be more like you. I give you my life. Save me Lord.

If this is your sincere desire and heartfelt prayer to God, He will hear you and save you! The promise of God is that He will not turn away anyone who comes to Him in faith. (see John 6:37)

Now that you are saved you are in a new relationship having received Jesus as Lord. We recognize his rights over us, His right to command us and for us to obey. But we are able to do this because we are also a new person, filled with the Holy Spirit. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”

As a new creation you need to trust Jesus by learning about Him and doing what the Bible says. He doesn’t promise us a life without trials but He promises to never leave us or forsake us and that He will give us everything we need to live a godly and abundant life.

Next, get yourself a Bible, read it everyday, find a Bible believing church and trust in the Lord:

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
